Most of you are probably familiar with Benjamin Zephaniah, but just in case there is anyone out there who doesn't know about this wonderful man, I'm submitting this paragraph. When I first came across Benjamin Zephaniah I was really excited. A vegan writer and poet with lots of right on views, whose writing is acclaimed and studied in schools. His work reflects his views, thus giving students a different perspective on life. And for those of us who value being able to get these perspectives aired, it's an ideal opportunity. What better staring point for class discussions and debates? As an anti-establishment Rastafarian, Benjamin Zephaniah cuts a cool figure, and in doing so helps to make his views more attractive to young people and can engage less motivated pupils into poetry.
